The Good News.
The meaning of the word Gospel is Good News and the message of The Gospel is that God knew before each one was born who would turn in repentance to Him. Paul shows this when he wrote in Ephesians 1:3-4: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him.”
In verse’s 14 and 15, of John Chapter 10, Jesus said: “I know my own and my own know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father.” This is a very powerful statement. Jesus is saying that you and I can know Him, just as The Father knows Him. Humanly speaking this seems imposable. How can a sinful human know the sinless Son of God in the same way that the Father of Glory knows him?
For this to happen in a persons life, a spiritual rebirth needs to take place. The Holy Spirit moves upon our hearts exposing our sinful nature. However, he dose not leave us there, because he also reveals unto us our need of a Savior. Through the Holy Spirit, we see Jesus for the first time as our Redeemer and Lord. We receive a repentant heart, where we recognize our sin for the vile thing that it truly is.
Through The Spirit Scripture reveals the saving ministry of Jesus such as: “You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”(Romans 5:6-8)
Scripture also gives promises of a Heavenly home when we read in John 14:1-3 how Jesus spoke these words of comfort to His disciples: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” As Christians, we see those words of comfort as promises intended as encouragement for all who followed Jesus. Consequently, a world pandemic, although dangerous, does not grip Christians with dread because, we have hope beyond this life. With such wonderful promises from The Lord we experience peace because of His love and protection.
Today, let us praise God for the Good News of The Gospel.
