The Seal Of The Spirit
The Bible holds wonderful promises for believers in Jesus. Among them is this inspiring passage: “And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.” (Ephesians 1:13-14)
When we are convicted by the Spirit, we become obedient to the Lord Jesus and thus, we are cleansed of our sin through the sacrifice of His blood, receiving grace and peace in abundance. It is through the ministry of The Holy Spirit that we enter into the knowledge of the Kingdom of God. He instills within us the guarantee of our Salvation. In Romans 8, Paul teaches concerning the difference between people sealed with the spirit, and people living without the Spirit when he wrote;
“Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.
You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.” (Romans 8:5-11)
The Holy Spirit will bring seekers to a place where we will readily confess our sins, and confess our need of Jesus in our lives. When we arrive at this point, the sacrifice of our Redeemer, through the shedding of His blood on the cross, is applied to our lives - we are cleansed of our sins. We will then personally experience the blessings of the riches of God's Grace. Therefore, without the working of the Holy Spirit in a person’s life, there is no genuine experience of salvation. This is the difference between a person who has religion, and a person who has Jesus. It was The Lord Himself who said in John 16:13: “When He the Spirit of truth comes He will guide you into all truth.”
Today, let us thank The Lord for the sealing of The Spirit in our lives.
