The Nobleman
The town of Cana in the Galilee district had an air of excitement as the news spread concerning the coming of Jesus, who had grown up in the nearby town of Nazareth. However, now His fame has spread with the many reports of His teaching's and the healing's at His hands. People still discuss the unusual story concerning the quality of the wine at the local wedding that He attended along with His family and followers. (John 2:1-10).
A nobleman from Capernaum, with the look of one with authority, stood out among the gathering crowd. Holding a position in the royal court, he had remained untainted by its politics and greed. As Jesus entered the village square, the nobleman humbly approached imploring that He go with him to his house in Capernaum, and heal his son who was at the point of death. Understanding the heart of this father, Jesus tenderly told him that his son lives.
Believing the words of Jesus's, the nobleman started his journey home. On the way he is met by servants who give him the good news concerning his son's recovery. Had he met, and spoke with the long awaited Messiah? Was Jesus the promised One whom the prophets spoke of? Who else could have healed his son from afar? That day the nobleman, and his household came to faith in Jesus - the Messiah to the Jews.
(Read John 4:46-53)
Today, let us thank our God for Messiah.
