The One To Whom I Turn
In each of our lives there are times when we will ask ourselves “to whom can I turn when I am hurting?” As for myself, when I find my world is turned upside down, and there seems to be no end in sight from the pain and hurt that I feel inside, I know of The One who counts my tears, The One who understands my sorrow and gives hope for tomorrow. His words of love drive away all my fears. Hear the words of my Savior: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.- John 14:27.
In his letter to the believers in Colossae chapter 1:15-20, Paul wrote this description of The Lord Jesus - The One to whom I turn: “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. 19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.” (ESV)
Paul is describing Jesus as, not only the creator of our world, but of the universe and all it contains. Out of love for you and I, Jesus came to the very world that He had created in order that we may be reconciled onto The Father through the cross of Calvary. He is the only God who has personality experienced what it means to be human, therefore, He understands our strengths and weaknesses. This is The One who touched the hurting people of Palestine two thousand years ago, and today He still touches lives. Now Jesus wants to touch your pain, will you repent and invite Him to be The Lord of your life? I have experienced His peace, and so will you, when you give your life to Him.
Today, let us give praise to Jesus for being The One to whom we can turn.
