Blessed Are The Forgiven
"Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the LORD does not count against him and in whose spirit is no deceit."- Psalm 32:1-2.
David had experienced the mercy of Yahweh, and wrote Psalm 32 as an expression of his feeling's. He also desired to encourage others to seek forgiveness for themselves. This can only be accomplished after a person has recognised their sinful nature, and called upon God with a repentant heart, as David states in verse 5: "Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the Lord." And you forgave the guilt of my sin."
When you and I have arrived at that decisive point, where we have acquired a personal knowledge of God as our Heavenly Father - we are blessed - and can say with David; "You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance." (verse7)
Even though, as Paul wrote in Ephesians 2:1, that we: "were dead in your transgressions and sins" - thus deserving Devine wrath - our Heavenly Father showed His love and mercy by sending His Son - who came as a child to Bethlehem. Humanity had been blessed, although the world in general was not aware of it at the time:
"The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God."- John 1:9-12.
What an awesome blessing it is for all who have put their trust in Jesus and are forgiven - making them a child of God. So let each one say with King David "Rejoice in the Lord and be glad, you righteous; sing, all you who are upright in heart!"(Verse 11)
Today, let us continue to praise our God for His Blessing's and His Forgiveness.
