Psalm 108 - NIV
"My heart, O God, is steadfast; I will sing and make music with all my soul. 2 Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn. 3 I will praise you, Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples. 4 For great is your love, higher than the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies. 5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth." - Psalm 108: 1-5.
This portion of the Psalms is a wonderful example of how to worship our Holy God. In verse 2, King David proclaims his desire to rise early, and welcome the dawn with instruments of worship, as he gives praise to Yahweh. I well recall a few years ago laying in a hospital bed recovering from surgery while watching the dawn of a new day. While in such circumstances of knowing what The Lord has undertaken on your behalf, ones heart is so full of gratitude, that worshiping at the dawning of a new day is only natural.
Heavenly Father, I do pray that my heart will be forever faithful. Upon awakening each day my first desire is to worship you, recognising that only you are Holy.
In verse 3 David writes: "I will sing of you among the peoples." While in Church among fellow believers, praise and worship is such a wonderful and uplifting experience. We all join in as the worship leader sings out: "Amazing Grace how great the sound that saved a wretch like me - - ." With enthusiasm we share with one another the blessings that we have received from The Lord.
O' Lord God help me not to be shy among my friends and neighbors concerning my faith in you. Encourage me when - and how - to share your love.
Verses 4 & 5 Speak of God's great love and faithfulness, and how He should be exalted above all the earth. Anyone who has experienced the forgiveness and reconciliation obtained through Jesus Christ, will know the truth of these verses.
Father God, how can we ever thank you enough for the love that you have demonstrated by sending your Son in order to reconcile a sinful world onto yourself? We will forever praise and worship you O' Lord Our God.
Today, let us continue to worship and praise our faithful God.
