Genuine Faith
It is important that each one considered the question: "Is my faith genuine and built on the solid rock of truth?" There are numerous religions claiming to be the right way, which has many people simply following the religion of their families without checking for truth, consequently they simply follow traditions. For many years this was my life until I was encouraged to look into the claims of The Bible. Unable to find fault with its teachings I was Challenged by Scripture and the Holy Spirit led me to repentance and a new life in Jesus.
The Bible revealed to me God’s love when I came to the realization that God’s truth is revealed in the person of Jesus Christ as He proclaimed in John 14:6: "I am the way and the truth and the life." I was introduced to The Jesus of Scripture - a Jesus that I had not known. This was the Savior who loved me to the point that He died for my sins, even though I would not be born for another two thousand years. Sometimes I would weep while reading of Jesus and His love.
Because I now accept The Scriptures to be true, I know that my past sins have been forgiven because of my faith in the Atoning Sacrifice of Jesus on Calvary. In one of his epistles, the apostle John explained it this way: “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.” (1 John 1:7-10. NIV)
I have heard people say that they thought their lives were not so bad when compared to others, so they believe that they are ok and do not need to be concerned about judgement. Because we have free will, we have the choice to either live life on our own accord or, hear and obey God’s Word. The message of the Gospel clearly teaches of how Our Heavenly Father sent His Son, who made the way possible for reconciliation with our God. Through accepting Jesus sacrifice for my sins, I am now ready to meet The Lord because things are now well with my soul. As the Scriptures say: "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." (Romans 8:1)
Today, let us thank our Heavenly Father for second chances.
