What Wonderful Assurance.
Just as the world sees hope of turning the corner with the pandemic, a tyrant gives an order and death and destruction reign down upon a sovereign nation. Once more the hope of peace in our world is shattered. This begs the question, is there any assurance of hope and peace in this life? Having experienced our world, and knowing how fragile our life is, Jesus prayed for His followers:
“Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.” (John 17:24) We who live with the blessed hope of spending eternity with our Savior, know that our faith in His Redemption will usher us into His peaceful, and secure presence when we leave this world. There we will see Him face to face as Revelation 22:4 states: "They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads." What wonderful assurance!
The fact of the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of the Christian faith. No other faith system can claim that their founder arose bodily from his tomb and was seen by many witnesses, as we read in 1 Corinthians 15:3-6:
“For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. 6 After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep.”
The resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth revealed to the world that there is a peaceful and secure life beyond our physical experience here on earth. He gave a wonderful promise in John 14:1-4: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” What wonderful assurance!
As born again believers, we will enter into eternal life sharing the inheritance of all the saints who served our Savior down through the ages. What joy awaits you and I when we will gather with the redeemed before the Throne of our Eternal God. We will forever worship the One who has called us by His Grace as described in Revelation 4:10-11:
“the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say:
11 “You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they were created
and have their being.”
Today, let us rejoice in the wonderful assurance of a peaceful eternity with our Savior and Lord.
