Be Still, And Know That I Am God.
Psalm 46 verse 10 instructs; "Be still, and know that I am God." According to this instruction from God, there is a way in which we can know Him. Through knowing Our Heavenly Father, we experience His forgiveness, peace and love. Unless we learn to turn off the world for a short while, and spend that precious time with our God, we will not know the peace of His presence in our life.
He says to each one; "Be still, and know that I am God." So, how can we know Him? For sinful humanity, to know God in the truest sense, is impossible. However, the Good News is that Our Heavenly Father has made a way; He sent His Son. In John 14:1, Jesus said, "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me." According to this verse, to believe in Jesus is to believe in the God of The Bible. It is this belief that separates Christians from the world.
In verses 6 & 7 of the same chapter Jesus also said,"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him." These recorded verses of Scripture tells you and I, that we can have a personal knowledge of Jesus. In knowing Him we realise that He came to reveal The Father unto us.
Growing in the knowledge of Jesus, we also grow in our knowledge of The One True God. No longer is God, somewhere up there - out of sight - out of reach, the man upstairs. He is approachable and knowable because, He has been revealed to us in the person of Jesus Christ, the second person of the Trinity. Therefore, to know Jesus, is to know The Father.
Today, let us follow God's instructions; "Be still, and know that I am God."
