Grace, The True Path Of Life
Each one’s path in life is defined by choices where our decisions can affect not only our lives but also the lives of others. For each person born, there are two paths laid out before us. The one that most travel is a broad road giving us the option to follow our own inclinations or, we can choose the narrow way of which Jesus spoke: “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” (Matthew 7:13-14)
We each have the freedom to make our own choice, either live life according to our own desires, thereby following our own path or, hear the call of Scripture and follow it as a true and faithful life guide. Following Scripture will lead you and I to Jesus who will lead us onto eternal life for He promised: “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”(Luke 11:9) There are many who choose the broad road, thinking they know what is best. However, through Grace, God calls us to follow the narrow way inviting you and I into His rest, where we will experience the joy of knowing forgiveness - which is the gift extended to all who turn to Jesus in repentance.
It is through Grace - which is the unmerited favor of God - that you and I are drawn to the saving knowledge of Jesus. Grace is the gift of God and cannot be earned, of which Jesus implied in John 6:44: “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.” Therefore Grace is a gift by which our God shows kindness and redemptive love to humanity. Peter explains that it is through the merits of Grace that you and I receive peace when we acquire a personal knowledge of Jesus, leading to the knowledge of our Heavenly Father. To experience this peace is to know that God really cares for me - a sinner. He heard, and answered when I called for mercy and forgiveness.
It was in second Peter 1:2-4 where Peter wrote: “Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.”
It is through Grace, that the amazing realization of God sending His Son to be my Savior becomes a reality. Paul explained this in Ephesians 2:8-9: "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast." It is in acknowledging - and accepting - this truth that one receives all that we need in order to live a Godly life. What joy there is in knowing, and experiencing the Love of God and, to know that you are accepted as a child of God through the love of Jesus shown by His sacrifice. This is God’s amazing Grace offered to you and I - unworthy though we may be - leading us down the true path of life.
Today, let us praise The Lord for His Grace leading us home.
