Understanding God’s Grace
Grace is among the many unique, and exclusive teachings of Christianity. In this time of pandemic, when fear can grip the heart, understanding God’s Grace brings a sense of peace into our lives. The Apostle Peter addressed it this way: “Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.”(2 Peter 1:2-4)
When you and I are drawn to the saving knowledge of Jesus, it is through Grace which is the unmerited favor of God, something that cannot be earned. Jesus spoke of this in John 6:44: “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.” Grace is a gift by which our God shows kindness and redemptive love to humanity. Peter explains that it is through the merits of Grace that you and I receive peace when we acquire a personal knowledge of our Heavenly Father. To experience this peace is to know that God really cares for me - a sinner. He heard, and answered when I called for mercy and forgiveness.
Through Grace, the realization is giving that God sent His Son to be my Savior. Paul explained this in Ephesians 2:8-9: "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast." It is in acknowledging this truth that one receives everything that we need in order to live a Godly life. What joy there is in knowing, and experiencing The Love of God. To know that you are accepted as a child of God through the love of Jesus shown by His sacrifice. This is God’s amazing Grace offered to you and I, unworthy though we may be, taking us through all the storms of life.
Today, let us praise The Lord for His gift of Grace.
