Chosen In Him.
If you are a born again believer in Jesus Christ you are uniquely blessed. In Ephesians Chapter 1 verse 4 Paul declares that Our Heavenly Father chose us in Jesus before the foundation of the world. This verse teaches that God knew each believer, not only before we were born, but also, before the world was formed. Wow, what a thought. God knew me before the beginning of time. As Paul also wrote: “he predestined us for adoption as sons and daughters through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will.” (Ephesians 1:5) Therefore, been a believer in Jesus you are in God’s will, and furthermore adopted into His family. You have been chosen in Christ.
The opening of Paul’s letter to the Ephesians is very similar to the opening of the first letter of Peter where he writes that the Father has given us: "a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade.” (1Peter 1:3) This hope is not just a longing, but a sure inheritance. Peter calls it a living hope. It becomes an inheritance when you become a member of the family of God through faith in Jesus Christ.
Did God know before you were born, that when challenged with the message of the Gospel, you would accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior? Have you experienced this new birth of which both Peter and Paul are referring? The answer to these questions will affect the way in which you will live out your life. We who have that hope, live life with a sense of peace, knowing that we have been forgiven. Through that forgiveness, I have the assurances that I will spend eternity with my Saviour and Lord. This is the inheritance of those who are chosen in Him.
Today, let us give thanks to our Heavenly Father for His amazing grace.
