Uniqueness In Christianity
Among the many teachings concerning the uniqueness of Christianity Paul wrote these encouraging words to new believers: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians 5:17-21. NIV)
For this to be experienced in a persons life, a spiritual rebirth needs to take place. Through God’s Grace, The Holy Spirit moves upon our hearts exposing our sinful nature. It is because of the moving of the Holy Spirit in our lives that we see Jesus for the first time as our Redeemer and Lord. We receive a repentant heart, where we recognize our sin for the vile thing that it truly is, separating us from God. While in this attitude of repentance our spiritual eyes are opened to see our Heavenly Father in a new way. Yes, we are sinners who deserve punishment from a righteous and holy God, despite that, through The Spirit we now see a Father who desires reconciliation with us, unworthy as we are. Repenting we become spiritually born anew.
Paul is describing our new relationship with God because of our new condition as redeemed people through the Atoning Sacrifice of Jesus. As our spiritual eyes are opened you and I no longer see God as up there watching us down here, instead we now know Him as our Heavenly Father of whom we worship out of a grateful heart. The Father sent The Son (John3:16) who has experienced our humanity, giving us confidence to know that He understands our needs. The Son sent The Spirit (John 16:7) who becomes our teacher, and guides us into the knowledge of Salvation through Jesus. Herein lays the uniqueness of our Christian faith.
Today, let us praise Our God for His love towards us.
