Turn To Our Savior God.
COVID-19 is just the latest major epidemic that the world has endured bringing severe illness and death. The troubling times that each plague and pandemic brought to humanity has left casualties in their wake. So how do we endure such trials? Do we panic and allow them to overpower our lives, or do we turn to our Savior God who has promised to be with us through the darkest valley? Throughout the pages of The Bible we see many great hero’s of the faith face troubling times in their lives. The record of their troubles became examples for you and I of their faith in the way that they faced and handled them.
As an example King David was a man who experienced great turmoil in his life. However, David also shows unflinching faith in God as he wrote in Psalm 3:3-4: ”But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. I call out to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy mountain.” Verse’s such as these are a great source of faith builders in times of need. They can help you and I to lift our spirits when personalized as a prayer. So what is meant by the line: “But you, Lord, are a shield around me”? David was a man of war and understood the importance of having a shield to protect from the enemy. At that time in history the king was seen as a shield for the people because, he was the man of power along with his army to protect the people from their enemies.
As born again believers, we have a shield around us in the person’s of both The Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit of whom we can call upon as Jesus assured us in John 14:15-18: “If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.” The Lord Jesus not only redeemed you and I, but also promised to send The Holy Spirit as an advocate which is one who champions and protects consequently, as believers in Jesus we are never alone because He said: “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.” Therefore turn to Jesus and receive His peace and forgiveness. You will find that COVID-19 looses its impact in the light of the love of Jesus.
Today, let us thank The Lord for His presence in times of need.
