In A Time Of Crisis
For many in these days of world wide pandemic, fear and a sense of hopelessness prevails. In this time of crisis, it is essential for our wellbeing, that you and I know in our hearts we can turn to our God, who is ever ready to hear and answer our prayers. He is the supplier of all our needs, and is the source of our physical, as well as our spiritual well-being. God is not silent but speaks words of encouragement to us through The Scriptures.
In the Old Testament, when reading The Psalm’s we find many passages of encouragement. Although most of the Psalm’s speak directly to the people of Jerusalem, down through history God’s people have been encouraged by their uplifting messages. From their teachings believers have always know that they can turn to Our Heavenly Father in times of need. So what about today, do you and I consider The Lord our refuge in these times of crisis? When troubles invade our lives do we fret and allow them to overwhelming us, or on the other hand, do we turn to God in prayer seeking His help and protection? If our knowledge of The Lord is that of a loving Father who will hear, and answer our prayers, we will daily turn to Him with confidence remembering the verse in the Psalm’s: "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."
The love of God was shown when The Lord Jesus came to our world, who saw and also experienced the struggles of this life. With a heart of compassion Jesus called out: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." (Mathew 11:28-30) A yoke is used to keep a pair of oxen, or other animals together when pulling a load. Consequently, been yoked together they become a team by sharing the work. What an amazing offer from our Savior who is offering to share our burdens thereby making them lighter.
In the Psalm’s we read the instruction: "Be still, and know that I am God." In the truest sense, this can only be experienced when we know Jesus as our Savior and Lord. We who have repented, and accepted God's gift of Salvation, have the assurance of eternal life in the presence of Almighty God as scripture teaches in Romans 10:9: “if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Therefore, we can proclaim with the Psalmist: "The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.” These are encouraging promise’s in our world’s present time of crisis.
Today, let us thank our Heavenly Father who is always there in times of crisis.
