What A Wonderful God
Have you ever wondered what it takes for a person to arrive at the place in their life when they place their faith and trust in Jesus Christ alone for their salvation? First, according to the teaching of Scripture, a person needs to recognize that they are a sinner. Until one has reached that point in their life they will not recognize their need of a Savior.
The Bible states: “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23). However, we do have a wonderful God who has made a way for you and I to receive redemption. Paul describes it this way: “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” (Romans 10:9-11)
When we place our trust in Jesus’ sacrificial death upon the cross as the one and only atonement for our sins, we become free from the power of sin, which brings spiritual death. This trust leads to life eternal, translating as living in a time without end in Heaven with our God and Savior: "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."(Romans 6:23)
The reality of our salvation is not dependant on our feelings, but rather on the promise of the Savior who said: “I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life” (John 5:24). On the other hand, to wilfully reject Jesus, is to continue to live in the darkness of not knowing, nor living in the true Light.
In chapter 3 of his Gospel, John put it this way: "Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil." (verses 18-19)
Scripture states that it is God, not humanity, who sought redemption from sin. As sinful members of the human race, we are incapable of approaching a Holy God. Consequently, He has reached down as a loving Heavenly Father to bring redemption by sending His Son, who bore our sin upon the cross (John 3:16-17). In turn, Jesus sent the Spirit who speaks to our heart's, leading you and I to The Truth. (John 16:13) What a wonderful God, what a wonderful Savior.
Today, let us praise our wonderful God for His love.
