Great Is Your Reward
After choosing the twelve disciples Jesus spoke these words to them showing how their lives will be blessed, in-spite of hard circumstance’s: "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh. Blessed are you when men hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man. "Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their fathers treated the prophets.” (Luke 6:20-23)
The newly appointed disciples were been called out from the world, and their lives will never be the same. Where once they labored each day to earn a living, now their lives will be dedicated to God’s Kingdom and the teaching’s of Jesus. They will be misunderstood, and even experience a hatred from their own people. On the other hand, they will receive blessings and honor in the Kingdom of God, because Jesus had explained to them: “great is your reward in heaven.“
When one becomes a Christian, there is no promise of life becoming easy. Even members of our own family will not always understand, or even accept the change in our life. This is because Kingdom living means living for God, not living for ones self - gratifying the desires of the flesh. The rewards of this new life is knowing that my Savior loved me to the extent that He gave His life in order that I will live in eternity with Him. Having this assurance makes living the Christian life worthwhile, no matter what the circumstance. For our Redeemer has promised: “great is your reward in heaven.“
Today, let us live our daily lives as pleasing onto our Savior.
