The Father Looked Down
The time was at hand when The Father looked down from above. The virgin gave birth to The Son while angels descend rejoicing as they announced Messiah’s birth: "Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests." (Luke 2:14)
The Son grew up into a young man as boys do. He was always conscious of doing The Fathers will. The Father spoke as the Son was baptized in the Jordan: "You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased." (Luke 3:22)
Shortly thereafter The Son began His mission proclaiming: "The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!"
(Mark 1:15)
After three years of ministry had passed The Father looked down to see The Son of God - The Anointed One, standing before the Sanhedrin accused of blasphemy. (Matthew 26:65-66)
Came the hour when The Son bore the sins of humanity: "God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God" (2 Corinthians 5:21)
The Father looked away as The Son became The Redeemer: "About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?" (which means "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?") (Matthew 27:46)
The Father was looking down when the third day dawned, seeing The Son arise: “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’” (Luke 24:5-7)
We who have been forgiven, rejoice with Paul when he states in 1 Corinthians chapter 15: 55-57: “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
Today, let us praise our Heavenly Father for Jesus.
