The Flight Was Long
The flight seemed long and tedious after I had completed the company report and closed the laptop. Finding a need to break the monotony, I decided to strike up a conversation with one of my fellow passengers. Turning to the gentleman in the aisle seat I ventured to ask about the book he was reading. “It’s on the life of Jesus Christ,” he responded. “Oh, you’re religious.” I said settling back in my seat with a deep sigh. “Not at all,” replied the man who had introduced himself as George before the flight began.
George then went on to explain how he was drawn to the person of Jesus after reading the eyewitness accounts concerning Christ’s extraordinary life. George explained; "Here was a man who had control over nature itself, even over life and death, both of others, and remarkably even His own. The Gospel accounts of his life are sometimes referred to as the Good News which was recorded for all people to read. They are not just one person’s views for there are four separate accounts."
George now began to explain the message of this Good News when he said: "The cross of Jesus is the answer to sin, and believing in Him brings life eternal. The witnesses attest that Jesus was God in the flesh, therefore His promises are true and we can trust in Him." Here George asked a profound question: "If these accounts of the life of Jesus are true, how can we afford to ignore this man - if indeed He was a man?”
I slowly shook my head, not having an answer to his profound question. I was reminded of the many times that I had seen a copy of the Gideon's Bible in my hotel room. Each time I failed to pick it up - not having an inclination to read it.
As our flight was approaching its destination, the question from George was still playing on my mind. This brought a resolution to look into the life of Jesus for myself. As the flight came to an end, my spiritual journey was about to begin.
Today, let us thank our Heavenly Father for the Gospel witness.
