Reconciliation With God
The Gospel message offers reconciliation with God. This is accomplished through seeking, and accepting the new life offered in Christ Jesus, because, as sinful people it is impossible to be reconciled to God through our own merits. Man-made religion seeks to reach up to God through their many ceremonies and rituals - be they traditional religions of old - or more modern and sophisticated philosophies.
However, The Almighty has made a way for sinful humanity to be reconciled onto Him. He has reached down to us in the person of Jesus Christ, who, when He went to the cross took upon Himself the sin of humanity, thereby reconciling us to God: "For if, while we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!" Romans 5:10.
As with many down through history, I followed my family's faith for much of my life. Then came the day that I was challenged by the message of the Scriptures. Now there was a decision to be made, do I continue in my traditional faith, or follow what I now believed was God's Word to humanity. Braking with tradition dose not come easily, especially when family belief's are involved. How will parents understand my desire to follow God - by no longer following their faith - whereby they believe that they are following God? Such decisions can only be made after much prayer and soul searching.
For anyone carefully reading the following passage from Paul, there is only one answer: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." (2 Corinthians 5:17-21)
