Anticipating His Return
The group of disciples watched in awe as their Master, whom they had followed for three years, ascended into the sky. They stared in bewilderment until a cloud took Him from their view. Then, without warning, two angels stood by them, "Men of Galilee," they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven." Acts 1:11. Jesus had completed His work on earth, and was returning to His Father on high. Now the disciples had a mission to undertake - spread the Good News. Their life's work will be preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is The Gospel of hope and forgiveness, because, although Jesus had died, He has risen.
The promised return of Jesus brings hope to all who have believed the Gospel and accepted Him as their Savior. Many live in anticipation of His second coming, knowing that the time draws ever near. Are you ready to meet Him at His glorious return? Remember His promise: "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." (John 14:1-3) Jesus is coming for His own - all who have repented, and believe that His atoning sacrifice was on their behalf. We have been promised an eternal home with Him. Do you believe, and anticipate His return?
Today, let us praise our gracious Lord for His promises.
