I Call On Your Name.
“I called on your name, O LORD,
from the depths of the pit;
you heard my plea, ‘Do not close
your ear to my cry for help!’
You came near when I called on you;
you said, Do not fear!’ - Lamentations 3:55-57.
The above scripture answers the question; where can I turn when I am hurting? When your world is turned upside down, and there seems to be no end in sight from the pain and hurt that you feel inside, remember that our God is but a prayer away.
Although you and I live in a broken world where we all experience pain and sorrow, there is also Good News as Psalm 145:18 makes known: “The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth.” This Good News of God’s Love is offered to all who will receive it. In Psalm 46:1-3, we read the assuring words:
“God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.”
I have come to know The Lord as my refuge and strength, the one who counts my tears, who understands my sorrow and gives hope for tomorrow, who’s words of love overcome all fear. Hear the words of Jesus my Savior: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” - John 14:27.
Jesus also said: “Blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted” - Matthew 5:4. Be assured Jesus understands your pain, for He came among us experiencing our humanity. Speaking of Jesus as our high priest, Hebrews 4:15-16 declares:
“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
Jesus wants to touch your life with its pains and sorrows, offering redemption and a new spiritual life with peace. Will you today, call on His Name and invite Him to be your Lord and Savior? I have experienced His peace, and so will you, when you give your life to Him.
Today, let us give thanks to the Faithful One whom we can call upon.
