Facing A Crisis With Faith
As our world goes through its many crisis, it is a sad fact that most people do not have a genuine faith that they can call upon. Facing a crisis with faith gives confidence in the outcome knowing that we have a God who cares. In spite of the decades of preaching The Gospel, they are among the vast majority who have not experienced The New Life in Christ as the greatest of life’s experiences. For those of us who have put our faith in Jesus is to know that God loved me to the extent that He came from Glory, to this world of sin, in order that sinners such as I could receive redemption through His sacrifice on Calvary. Consequently, we will be among the multitude without number worshipping before His Throne.
In his Gospel, John proclaimed that Jesus was The Light who came into our world in order to change lives. However, he also acknowledges that not everyone would recognize who Jesus was. Nonetheless, for all who do acknowledge Jesus, who believe in Him, will experience an eternal change in their life: “The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God — children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.” (John 1:9-13)
In the Scriptures, one can read how we each have the opportunity to accept and experience God’s incredible gift: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.”(John 3:16-21 (NIV)
The Gospel message is as relevant today as it was in the first century. The people of that time had many health issues just as we have today, including famine’s and pandemic’s. How a person handles life’s troubles depends largely on our spiritual condition. If all is well with my soul I can face all that life throws at me with confidence. Paul wrote the following as an encouragement: “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile —the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”(Romans 10:9-13)
Today, let us continue to trust in The Lord.
