Every Born Again Believer
According to the New Testament writer Paul, every born again believer in Jesus Christ is uniquely blessed, because our Heavenly Father chose us in Jesus before the foundation of the world: ”Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.” (Ephesians 1:3-4)
These verses teach that God knew each born again believer, not only before we were born, but even before the world was formed. What an incredible thought; God knew you and I before the beginning of time. As Paul also wrote: “he predestined us for adoption as sons and daughters through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will.” (Ephesians 1:5) Therefore, as believers in Jesus we are in God’s will, and furthermore, adopted into His family. We have been chosen in Jesus Christ.
The opening of Paul’s letter to the Ephesians is similar to the opening of the first letter of Peter where he writes that the Father has given each believer "a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade.” (1 Peter 1:3) This hope is more than just a longing, it is a sure inheritance because, Peter calls it a living hope, whereby we become members of the family of God through faith in Jesus Christ.
It was through the reading of scriptures such as these that I came to a deeper understanding of God’s blessings and forgiveness, for repentant sinners. Where once I was lost, now I have the assurances that I will spend eternity with my Savior and Lord. This is the inheritance of those who have repented of their sin, and are now born again. What an incredible blessing. My prayer is that you also experience this living hope in Christ. Remember, He is only a prayer away.
Today, let us praise Our God for His blessings.
