The Carpenter.
As he enter the small humble work shop, the carpenter takes one last look around. This is where he spent each working day since his youth. Over many years he labored patiently learning his trade, fashioning the wood until he was pleased by what he had made. He lays a hand on a piece of wood laying on the bench. How he loves the smell of the shop, and the sound of the mallet which helped create the calluses on his hands. The carpenter knows that it's time to move on, for he is aware of his calling and the message waiting to be shared.
The carpenter from Nazareth began his mission in Galilee where he proclaimed God’s Kingdom, and called disciples from the sea. People travelled many miles to hear the new teacher, and marveled at the healing's people received. Surely only God can perform such wondrous signs.
It was on a hill outside Jerusalem, three years later that he was crucified upon a rough wooden cross with a prayer upon his lips; “Father forgive.”(Luke 23:34) Finally, a spear pierced His side. The pounding of a hammer secured the sign above His head. “Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews" the onlookers read.(John 19:19) Impressed by what they had witnessed soldiers exclaimed; "Surely he was the Son of God!" (Matthew 27:54.)
Death held no power over Him, consequently, as the third day dawned, The Son arose and forgiveness had been attained. (Ephesians 1:7)
Today, let us praise The Lord for His life and sacrifice.
