Reconciliation
The need for reconciliation between humanity and God goes back to the garden of Eden. When Adam and Eve committed the original sin, the fellowship that they had with God was changed not only for them, but also for their descendants. Notwithstanding, our Heavenly Father made the way for reconciliation through the cross of Jesus; as stated in 2 Corinthians 5:18: “God reconciled us to himself through Christ.”
In my early Church years I had no understanding of the Biblical doctrine of reconciliation, only the ritual that my Church required. Once I began prayerfully reading Scripture for myself, my understanding changed. It soon became clear that if I desired to attain reconciliation with God, I had to whole heartedly turn from rituals to The Scriptures for guidance. It was within their pages that one can read of the spiritual truth that will lead you and I to eternal life. I did not want to be like Pilate, who was blind to who Jesus truly was when He stood before him as a prisoner. Instead of recognizing truth, Pilate listened to the mob who demanded; "Crucify him, crucify him." (John 19:6)
Among the life changing Scriptures that spoke to my searching heart was: “You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.” (Romans 5:6-11
You and I do not need to work and struggle in an effort to approach God because, He has instigated the way onto reconciliation with Him. Jesus came to show Gods love for humanity do not reject the free offer of His Divine Love.
Today, let us give thanks for God’s offer on Reconciliation through Jesus.
