Sincere Faith
The world of religion can be confusing with so many claiming to be teaching the right way. Consequently, because of the numerous types of spiritual faiths, it is important for a person to considered the question: "Is my faith sincere, and based on the solid rock of truth?" The majority of people simply go along with the religion of their families, where they follow traditions instead of investigating the truth of their faith. For many years this was my situation until I was encouraged to look into the claims of The Bible. Unable to find fault with its teachings, came to the awareness that it was the truth. Challenged by the it’s message, I came to the place of repentance, leading to a new life in Christ Jesus.
Sincere reading of The Bible helper me understand that God’s love and truth is revealed in the person of Jesus Christ. Apart from the many miracles of Jesus recorded in The Bible pointing to who He truly was, there are also His many statements such as the one found in John 14:6: "Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Seeking a sincere faith, these revelations introduced me to The Jesus of Scripture - a Jesus that I had not known. This was the Savior who loved me to the point that He died for my sins, even though I would not be born for another two thousand years.
Because I now accept The Scriptures to be true, I know that my past sins have been forgiven because of my sincere faith in the Atoning Sacrifice of Jesus on Calvary. In one of his epistles, the apostle John explained it this way: “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.” (1 John 1:7-10. NIV)
When comparing their lives to others, many believe they are ok and do not need to be concerned about judgement. However, because of free will, we have the choice to either live life on our own accord or, hear and obey God’s Word. The message of the Gospel clearly teaches that Our Heavenly Father sent His Son, who made the way possible for reconciliation with our God. Through accepting Jesus sacrifice for my sins, I am now ready to meet The Lord because, things are now well with my soul and, as the Scriptures proclaim: "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." (Romans 8:1)
Today, let us give thanks for the gift of sincere faith.
