An Ever Present Help
Psalm 46:1 states that "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble." Is it possible for you and I to utter these words with total confidence in this time of pandemic? Can we say that God is our ever present help, whether it be physical, emotional or spiritual? In this time of trouble, when fear rears its head it is only natural to panic and fret. It becomes easy to forget that we have a loving Father in God, whom we can turn to in prayer. Scripture reminds us of the faithfulness of God by stating: "You are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble" (Psalm 59:16).
Because of the violence in the world people have always had the need for the assurance that there was help available. That God is described as a fortress takes us back to the time when people living in rural areas fled to the fortress for safety. Built of solid rock it was a safe refuge in times of danger. In these days of covid and the constant threats of our violent world where we all experience trials, be assured of this; our Heavenly Father is ever ready to pour out His blessings upon His children. In the midst of the greatest crisis, you and I can experience God's peace, when relying on Him as our refuge and strength, as Psalm 55:22 promises: "Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you."
As an assurance that The Lord is an ever present help, remember the promise of Jesus that He made when leaving His disciples. This is a comforting promise that has been passed down through the years. A promise that you and I can take to heart, especially at a time such as we are all now experiencing: “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Today, let us be assured of God’s faithfulness.
