Light And Hope In The Pandemic
The pandemic that the world is experiencing has brought dark clouds to every part of the globe. Suffering brings despair when one does not have hope, however there is a light that draws genuine seekers into a faith offering hope to all. The message of this hope has been recorded in the pages of The Bible which has been translated into almost every language of our world. Although many evil men down through history have tried to destroy it, their endeavors failed and The Bible is still one of the biggest selling books throughout the world. This is the book that records the message of God’s love for humanity expressed in the life of Jesus Christ who announced: “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
Among The Bible’s teachings concerning Jesus Christ is this all important statement: “All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:3-5) As we witness the sun move across the sky we are reminded that The One who created it, is Himself The Light of the world. Knowing this spiritual truth gives confidence to the born again believer when clouds overshadow our lives. Just as the sun continues to shine above the natural clouds, Jesus continues to shine His Everlasting Light both above, and through, the clouds of our lives.
The life that the above scripture refers, is eternal life which actually starts when we repent and turn to Jesus as our Savior. This new life gives one the hope of the nearness of Jesus both in this life, and the life to come, as He promised in Matthew 28:20: “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” To know Jesus as your Savior and Lord is the most wonderful of experiences. Therefore even in the darkness of a pandemic, my Savior is near, bringing peace and hope of better days. To know that the One who created our world is also the One who suffered and died in order to obtain Atonement on behalf of our sin is something to marvel at.
In Colossians 1:16 the apostle Paul also teaches that Jesus is Creator when he wrote: “For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him”. To the child of God, looking at the heavens is seeing the work of Our Creator and Redeemer laid out for all to see. He cares for each one, and desires to be accepted into our lives. It only remains for you and I to exercise faith in these Scriptures and accept them as God’s truth to us as messages of Light and Hope in a dark world.
Today, let us give thanks for the Light and Hope that Jesus gives.
