The Gospel Of Reconciliation
The Gospel message offers reconciliation with God. This is accomplished through seeking, and accepting the new life offered in Christ Jesus, because, as sinful people it is impossible to be reconciled to God through our own merits. Man-made religion seeks to reach up to God through their many ceremonies and rituals - be they traditional religions of old - or more modern and sophisticated philosophies.
However, The Almighty has made a way for sinful humanity to be reconciled onto Him. He has reached down to us in the person of Jesus Christ, who, when He went to the cross became our atonement, taking upon Himself the sin of humanity, thereby reconciling us to God: "For if, while we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!" Romans 5:10.
In one of his letters, Paul wrote: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God."
(2 Corinthians 5:17-21)
The Bible revealed to me God’s love when I came to the realization that God’s truth is revealed in the person of Jesus Christ as He proclaimed in John 14:6: "I am the way and the truth and the life." Through understanding this, I was introduced to The Jesus of Scripture - a Jesus that I had not known. This was the Savior who loved me to the extent that He died for my sins, even though I would not be born for another two thousand years. Sometimes I would weep while reading of Jesus and His love.
I was convicted of my sin and the need of redemption. Confessing my sin, I called upon The Name of Jesus as my Lord and my Savior- receiving forgiveness. My world was changed because I was born again (John 3:3). Filled with The Holy Spirit I could now understand spiritual truths. Once I was spiritually blind, but now I can see that God is my Father, and Jesus is my Savior, making Heaven my eternal home.
Today, let us thank our Heavenly Father for the gift of Reconciliation.
