Praise and Worship
When one has the incredible experience of becoming a born again believer, praise and worship becomes a normal way of life. To know our Heavenly Father brings a sense of reverence because of His holiness. To understand that God is holy, is to hold Him in such high esteem that adoration becomes a person's mode of worship such as: “Praise the LORD! Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! Who can utter the mighty deeds of the LORD, or declare all his praise? Blessed are they who observe justice, who do righteousness at all times!” (Psalms 106:1-3)
Because we now have a heart of thanksgiving, our desire is to worship our God. We worship Him for our salvation, and all that He has done in creating our world. When observing the heavens, do we not marvel at its vastness? Or, when watching a sunrise, or sunset - knowing that each one is unique in their beauty - do we not praise our Creator? Who has not been in awe when realizing that no two snow flakes are alike? We admire the mighty oak, and wonder at the delicate beauty of the rose. However, God's crowning glory in creation was humanity: "So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them." (Genesis 1:27)
When becoming a Christian, the new believer is in awe of God's love because they have experienced forgiveness - leading to a new life, and so we praise Him with King David: “I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High.” (Psalm 9:1-2) How can we not praise and worship this wonderful God of love when one understands the supreme cost of our salvation? “This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” (1 John 4:9-10) And So we continually say with the Psalmist: "Praise the Lord. How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise him!" (Psalm 147:1)
Today, let us continue to praise and worship our loving God.
