Made Alive In Christ By Grace
The work of God is accomplished through The Holy Spirit, who will work through a believer sharing The Gospel message of God’s Grace. We see this when the Lord spoke to Paul, appointing him as his servant to go and proclaim the Gospel: “- I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.” (Acts 26:17-18) It is by Grace that God, in His mercy delivers us from the kingdom of darkness, thereby making us spiritually alive in Christ Jesus, through the message of The Gospel.
The all important question for a person who desires to change their life and become a genuine believer is how do I leave the dominion of darkness and live in the kingdom of light? Firstly a person needs to come to the knowledge that there are two spiritual kingdoms, and moreover, that they are in the wrong kingdom. This can only be accomplished through God’s Grace. Only God can enlighten a sinner to his, or her spiritual need. God’s Grace awakens us to our spiritual condition - sinners in need of forgiveness.
According to Scripture we are all a part of the kingdom of darkness before we came to faith in Jesus: “As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. 4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions —it is by grace you have been saved.” (Ephesians 2:1-5)
However, someone may say: “I was not aware that I was part of any kingdom of darkness.” That is precisely the way Satan, the prince of darkness, works. He is a master at keeping people deluded concerning their spiritual condition. The Gospel describes him as the father of lies when Jesus said of him: “He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” (John 8: 44) Notwithstanding, God’s Grace brings repentant sinners into the Kingdom of Light where our spiritual condition changes and we become born again - and alive in Christ Jesus.
Today, let us give praise to our Saving God.
