Focusing Our Thoughts On Jesus.
Scripture encourages you and I to dedicate our lives to our Lord and Savior. The One who came among us experiencing our daily lives with all of its ups and downs. Jesus grew up in a family, therefore He understands the struggles sometimes involved in family dynamics. As an adult Jesus experienced life under the strict religious social order of the time, along with life under Roman occupation. Knowing the struggles of life, Jesus spoke encouraging words to one and all; including:
“9 As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. 10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. 11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.” (John 15:9-11)
When life seems to overwhelm us, Jesus wants you and I to remember that If we are redeemed, He is our Shepherd who knows each of His flock by name. Consequently, The Shepherd cares for His own and has Atoned for your sin, thereby you are forgiven no matter what life brings your way:
“I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd. 17 For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again. 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father.” (John 10:14-18 ESV)
Jesus came from The Father in order to bring Salvation to all who would accept His Atoning Sacrifice on Calvary. During His three year ministry Jesus made it clear that He, and He alone, is the only way to God The Father:
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.” (John 14:6-7)
Although Jesus has returned to The Father, it is important to remember that He is still very active in our lives because, as our High Priest who has offered the supreme sacrifice for sin, He now intercedes on our behalf:
“14 Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:14-16)
Today, let us focus our thoughts on Jesus.
