I Am The Way.
John 14:6-7 are among the most important of the many “I Am” Bible verse’s declaring the uniqueness of Jesus Christ, along with the profound declaration that He is the only way to God:
“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
No one else in history has the authority to make these statements with the confidence of knowing their truth. These profound statements of Jesus nullify the false claim that all religions are the same, and that all religions lead to God. Only Jesus can claim to be the one and the only way to God because, He is God in the flesh as Colossians 2:9 states: “For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form.” As The Incarnate Son of God, Jesus both proclaimed the truth, and is The Truth. He is The Word of Life as first John 1:1-2 proclaims: “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched —this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. 2 The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us.”
When Jesus said: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” He was warning that there will be many false teachers erroneously claiming to have found the way to God. On another occasion He encouraged His listeners to: “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”- Matthew 7:13-14.
In verse 7 of John 14, Jesus states: “If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
This is a profound claim speaking to the Divinity of Jesus, which is only truly understood after a sinner has experienced forgiveness through Jesus’s Atoning Sacrifice on Calvary, and they become born again. The new spiritual life brings us into a personal relationship with Jesus and The Father, thereby knowing The One True God.
Peter, who had spent three years with Jesus experiencing The Father working through The Son, proclaimed: “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”- Acts 4:12. Therefore, salvation is not a religion but the person of Jesus Christ, because: “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”- John 3:16-18.
I do pray that you also experience sins forgiven, leading to the glorious personal knowledge of the One True God.
Today, let us give thanks to The Father for The Son.
